FAQs
How does direct billing work for extended health benefits?
With your permission, Kitchener Physiotherapy &Wellness will submit your claim to an online portal for services you received at our location. You need to provide us with your insurance policy number and member ID. Your portal will give us an idea on the exact amount that your benefit plan will cover and you may need to pay the remaining portion, depending on your coverage plan.
(Note: Most insurance companies offer direct billing, but not all.)
Will I need to pay anything?
You may need to pay the remainder of your visit fee, depending on insurance plan. If your insurance company covers 100% of your cost, then you don’t need to pay anything. If your insurance company covers 80% of your visit, then you need to pay the remaining 20%.
What treatment you will direct bill for?
We offer direct billing for all of your physiotherapy and massage services.
Do I need a doctor’s referral for my physiotherapy or massage therapy?
In Ontario, you have direct access to physiotherapy and massage services, which means that you can obtain the services without a referral from your doctor. However, some insurance plans require a doctor’s referral, so be sure to check your coverage prior to your visit.
What if I have several insurance plans? Do you offer co-ordination of benefits?
Unfortunately, Portal allows only one insurance plan to be direct billed. Hence you need to pay the remainder of the portion owed to the clinic. We provide itemized receipts as needed.
Do I get a receipt?
Yes, you will get a receipt for the remainder of the portion that you payed to the clinic. For direct billing patients, we can provide you with the statement submitted to online portal.
What If my insurance company denies or cannot process my billing?
You can pay us directly and get reimbursed from insurance company. We accept e-transfer, Visa, MasterCard, Debit or cash. We will provide you with the receipt for you to submit to your insurance company.
